DIY Cold Brew directions

Whether you picked up one of our DIY Cold Brew Kits, or just want to see how to make delicious cold brew yourself at home, well you've come to the right spot!

Step one:  Get a 32 oz jar, wash jar with hot soapy water at a minimum, but we recommend sterilizing jars before making cold brew coffee.

To sterilize empty jars, put them right side up on the rack in a boiling-water canner (or cooking pot). Fill the canner or pot and jars with hot (not boiling) water to 1 inch above the tops of the jars. Boil 10 minutes at elevations of less than 1,000 ft. At higher elevations, boil 1 additional minute for each additional 1,000 ft. elevation. Remove and drain hot sterilized jars one at a time.

Step two:  Add 1 bag of cold brew grounds from your kit. If you have your own mesh bags/coffee we recommend 54-56 grams of coffee grounds for a 32 oz jar of cold brew.

Step three:  FIll the jar with water to the 32 oz line. ensure to fully submerge and soak the grounds with water. this will ensure that the coffee brews properly. If you are using the bags from our kit, you can leave a little bit of the end of the string from the bag out of the jar, this will make it easier to remove later.

Step four: place the lid and lid ring on the jar, and put the jar in your fridge for 12-48 hours. The minimum time to get decent cold brew, is about 8 hours, so in a pinch you can just put it in the fridge overnight, but it works the best if you can wait at least one day before drinking it.  I also recommend removing the coffee grounds after 2 to 3 days to prevent bitterness in your cold brew.

Step 5: Enjoy!
